Scott Rees & Co is a leading law firm that was founded in 1992, located in Newton-le-Willows. The practice began with Peter Scott and Daniel Rees with the aim to provide the best advice, care and legal service for personal injury accident victims. They wanted to provide a high-quality service and critical access to justice. 


Since then, the firm now specialises in several aspects of law, including personal injury claims, conveyancing, as well as wills and probate. The organisation has seen considerable growth, with a team of over 150 employees divided across their specialist departments. 




Scott Rees & Co had an existing firewall solution that was aging and becoming expensive to maintain. In addition to increased IT security, the firm wanted to make their investments in IT go further, with a desire to improve other aspects of their core IT infrastructure in the future. Our engineers and account managers spent some time understanding the immediate and future requirements of the business and came forward with a comprehensive and future-proof solution. 


Key aspects of the project included migrating their existing on-premise exchange platform to Microsoft 365. This now offers Scott Rees & Co with increased flexibility and collaboration – supercharging productivity for their team. The migration also included the deployment of Barracuda Sentinel which uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) making threat detection and response smarter and faster. 


In addition to the increased levels of security added with M365 and Barracuda Sentinel – our team upgraded the existing Checkpoint firewall with a Barracuda CloudGen Firewall. The new firewall is made up of physical, virtual, and cloud-based appliances that protect and enhance your network infrastructure. Key features of the new firewall include application profiling, intrusion prevention, web filtering, advanced threat and malware protection, antispam, and full-fledged network access control – protecting Scott Rees & Co against zero-day threats.


Scott Rees & Co now operate with enhanced productivity, security and collaboration - having updated critical aspects of their IT infrastructure. All of which delivered at a cost saving to their monthly IT expenditure.
