Founded in 1997, Romero Insurance is the UK's largest independent insurance brokers that provide Insurance and Risk Management solutions for clients across a variety of industries including Corporate, Healthcare and Education.

Romero currently employs over 150 staff across 4 sites and handles close to £100 million in premiums each year. With company history spanning 2 decades, Romero celebrated its 20th anniversary this year.

Romero was in urgent need of a Cloud Backup and Disaster Recovery solution. An existing cloud service was due to terminate and required a more comprehensive Disaster Recovery plan.

Having a robust Data Backup and DR solution is a crucial component of modern business. Without one, businesses are at risk of losing critical data or worse, losing everything.

After a full site audit, pure technology group (PTG) identified some critical issues with their current Backup system. Within a short timescale, PTG had just under one month to develop a solution that would cover all of Romero’s requirements whilst matching budgetary and operational requirements.

PTG designed and deployed a cloud solution based on Veeam Cloud Connect, in collaboration with Vapour Media. The solution provided Romero with a fully-managed Cloud Backup service, integrating hosted Backup repositories directly into a Veeam console. This ensured that cloud repositories are still available even when the primary backup or datacentre is lost.

“We required an entirely new Backup and DR system and PTG proposed a solution that fit the job perfectly. Since then, we’ve been consistently impressed by their quality of service, so much so that we continue to use them for most of our IT requirements.”
Mark Noble IT Director, Romero Insurance

Romero now has the ability to rapidly backup data to both the cloud and to local storage/network shares simultaneously. The solution also facilitates back up of Microsoft 365 and Exchange mailboxes, mobile devices and workstations. Romero no longer needs to manually Backup data, saving staff many hours of administration and with less margin for error. The process is fully-managed and monitored on a daily basis as an automated service.

Since the first joint project in 2016, PTG and Romero have built a great relationship with PTG becoming the primary provider of managed IT services. Over the course of one year, Romero has subscribed to: cloud, backup, support, design and network services, which included managed backup, a 3-tier security solution, Microsoft 365 and Service Desk support.
