Virtual College is one of the UK’s leading providers of online training resources and learning management software. Voted ‘E-learning development Company of the Year’ for the last two years, Virtual College is growing rapidly with over 2.5 million online learners.

The pure technology group has worked closely with Virtual College in developing new and innovative technology solutions to support their position as one of the UK’s leaders in e-learning.

Virtual College set itself an ambition to ‘future-proof’ its IT infrastructure and support the development of its next generation e-learning environment. With a growing user base of over 2.5 million learners, the existing network architecture was becoming aged. It became apparent that a new solution was necessary to support the future ambition to grow to over 20m learners.

The solution was designed in conjunction with several global vendors including Huawei, Microsoft and Veeam. An entire system design was created including software and the implementation of Huawei’s FusionCube™ technology which has enhanced Virtual College’s network efficiency. This enables increased demand as their user base increases.

In addition, Virtual College now has the ability to scale services up and down based on demand, plus a 3-tier security platform to better protect the integrity of its growing learner records.

“The pure technology group has secured our infrastructure for the next 10 years. They over-delivered on our original project specifications and sourced new products we didn’t realise were even available on the market. The capability of Huawei’s FusionCube™ technology is very impressive and I am looking forward to our organisation reaping the rewards of its superior performance.”
Jonathan Lumb, IT Manager at Virtual College.

“It has been a pleasure to be part of such a ground-breaking project. The support that Huawei has shown both ourselves and Virtual College has ensured that in conjunction with our technical teams, a solution was designed that encompassed all of the needs of Virtual College and strengthened our relationship with the customer for their next period of growth. Working alongside global brands such as Huawei, Microsoft and Veeam is the key to delivering solutions of this magnitude in the most efficient manner. It’s saved Virtual College £1million+ when compared to solutions from other vendors.”
