The Children of Achievement Awards organised by the WACCL are dedicated to recognising the talents and outstanding bravery of young people throughout the Wakefield district.

Children between the age of 1-19 were nominated for over 9 award categories, including Taking Personal Risks, Sports Achievement and Young Achiever in Academia. The night was full of inspirational young children and their stories.

Ian Taylor, Chairman of WACCL, commented:

“The Children of Achievement Awards is the only event in Wakefield that is dedicated to children and we wanted to make it a huge success. With nine very worthy winners, it has been an amazing and emotional evening, thank you to our sponsors and the businesses that have attended for coming along to make a child smile.”

the pure technology group were incredibly humbled by the opportunity to sponsor the Award for Child of Courage Battling Illness. This award category is a fitting choice following our work with Candlelighters, our charity of choice.

Michelle Lazenby, Group HR Director, said:

"I would like to thank WACCL and Thornton Jones for giving us the opportunity to sponsor such an inspiring award. The night was a wonderful celebration of the talent and drive of young people in Wakefield.
